2014 – a year of rest and deep thought
This year has begun with a feeling of optimism and does not have the chaotic feel that past years have had.
2014…… 2 + 0 + 1 + 4 = 7….. and it is a pure 7, making this year a universal 7 year.
But let`s first take a quick peek at last year:
Last year was a universal 6 year, and, in my blog early in 2013, I wrote that it would be a year with a large focus on family, relationships, women`s rights and community. Indeed it was. We had 2 well-covered incidents in South Africa which put the focus on women`s rights. There was the brutal rape and subsequent death of Anene Booysen which united women in the protest against rape and abuse. The Oscar Pistorius incident where Reeva was killed united women world-wide in speaking out against domestic violence…. Women have started to speak out and stand together, protecting themselves from future abuse and teaching their daughters that disrespectful and violent behaviour from men is unacceptable. Many women told their stories on tv and radio and, thankfully, these stories are not being swept under the mat any longer. Human rights observers have criticized countries for failing to effectively prosecute marital rape. South Africa only saw its first conviction for marital rape in 2012, although it was criminalized in 1993.
This year, 2014, will bring problems in water and electricity delivery world-wide. There will be a new focus on alternative sources of energy. Water pipes may cause water-delivery problems due to rusting or other unforseen problems. Looking after clean and natural water sources will become paramount.
The deep-searching, scientific and analytical nature of the 7 should bring new break-throughs in cures for diseases such as AIDS and cancer. The focus and education of people regarding natural health products and healthy lifestyles will become a necessary focus this year. New evidence will be found on ancient civilizations as well as other historical events.
People and the earth need to rest… so I suspect people will stay home more and scale down their levels of frantic-ness and get back to gardening, reading and putting their feet up more often.
Weather patterns may be erratic as the earth attempts to heal itsself.
The search for the meaning of life will intensify and people will begin to seriously question the role of institutions such as the government and organised religions and look for meaning and truth that resonates with them.
My suggestion this year would be to rest more, read more, spend time peacefully in nature, cut down on expenditure and find your truth. Plant that herb and veggie garden. Study what you have been procrastinating against. Discover what makes your heart and soul sing and think about making that your new reality; align your job or hobby to those things. Write that book and learn to play that musical instrument…
Have a peaceful year and above all – be gentle with yourself and the earth and become more aware of the way in which you influence it and it influences you.
Until next time….
