To Laugh or to Cry? January 2018
This could be either a joyful- or a depressing month. Or it may be a little bit of both. Or, being 2018 which is an 11 energy, it may be both at the same time.
January adds up to a 12. The root number is 3, the number, (in the positive), of liquid sunshine. “Optimism” is the word I would like the world to focus on this month. Look for the silver lining of every cloud, and the positives in every experience, whether it is perceived as “good” or “bad”.
You may be wondering how the December holiday season could have come and gone so quickly… you may feel you are only really ready for a holiday now, and yet for most of us it is back to work or school.
Sandwiched in between the 22/4* energy of December 2017, and the 13/4* energy of February 2017, both difficult energies for different reasons, this month could potentially highlight depression as a prevalent mental health problem worldwide. It is the opposite side of the coin to the joyful and optimistic number 3 – the shadow side. In December I cautioned people to look out for friends and family as it was a strange and not particularly festive energy for the festive season. Each of you will have had your own experiences of how you felt and coped during December.
A lot of emphasis will be placed on the power of the mind this month.
If you have found your niche, you should be feeling joyful, creative, happy and sociable. If not, you have some creative experimenting to do: a social club to join to stimulate ideas and conversation, or a conference or two to attend on a topic of your choice to get the intellectual juices flowing. Ongoing education is a must in this day and age – especially if you are job hunting – instead of wallowing in self pity. There are many free courses online too.
Finding, nurturing and cultivating your inner child and that which makes you happy should be high on your agenda. Like a child, you may feel happy one minute and react childishly the next, and have days when you just don’t feel up to the pressure of “adulting”.
Look at doing some positive activities with lasting effects. Is there a new hobby you would like to try? Perhaps it could lead to something bigger in the future, like a new business opportunity. Explore your creative side. Start an unexplored form of exercise.
Consider communicating your ideas for a happier life to others. Try blogging, vlogging, podcasts, workshops, singing, rapping… whichever way you can best get your message across. Communicate. Enthuse others with your joy and optimism. It is a great month to organize a few social get-togethers, or to find the child within and get out with the kids, friends and pets and have some fun.
This is a good time to get your CV in order and to schedule interviews. Be wary of overselling or over-promising, as this could backfire down the line.
Keep a firm hold on your finances. You may need them next month. Don’t blow your savings on something extravagant, overindulge in alcohol or substances, or think an affair or “new toy” (like that red sports car) is what you need to add excitement to your life. Or go ahead, as long as you are happy to bear the consequences. “Instant gratification” or “fly now, pay later” may give rise to regrets or guilt down the line.
The bottom line for January is: if you don’t know whether to laugh or cry, find something to laugh about. It is bound to make you feel better than crying will. They say that when you can laugh at a situation, you have put it into perspective. Ask yourself how much of this life is “real” anyhow, as from “the other side” this whole lifetime is but a blink of an eye.
